Lures For Braid To Flouro

Featured Replies

ive decided to try and use braid a lot more this year. but im a little confused.

so two questions:

1) what lures/techniques would you use braided line with a fluoro leader? how long of a leader?

and

2) what lures/techniques do you use briaded line as backing with flouro. like 1/2 spool braid and 1/2 spool flouro?

sorry if its a dumb question. ive just never used braid for anything other than frogs, a-rigs, and punching.

thanks for the help!

1. Anything except for topwaters (frogs or spooks) or heavy cover flipping. I just measure a wingspan for leader material

2. With braided backing to fluoro, just use what you normally would throw with fluorocarbon

1) Only for finesse tactics...Wacky, Shaky etc. About 3 ft long, and then only on spinning gear

2) What you use for backing doesn't matter.

What your top line is does.

(see above)

I use braid to fluoro for everything except frogs

1) braid to fluoro for Senkos, T-rigged worms and creatures, drop shot, shakey head and ripping lipless crank baits through weeds. This is one of my most used combos and will quickly become one of yours also.

2) use cheap mono for backing for braid or fluorocarbon so you get more use out of each spool.

3) The only dumb question is the one that goes unasked.

I use braid/fluoro leader for everything except crankbaits, spooks, frogs, and punching. Jerkbaits used to be straight fluoro but I've grown to like them with braid/fluoro leader.
