Anyone fishing the FLW or B.A.S.S. tournament in Richmond?

I have heard from one person so far that is fishing in Richmond this summer.

Yep, in July I'm in as a co-angler for the James River. These Northern Opens can't come soon enough! Don't know jack about tidal waters and I hear this could be a brutal tournament but it's going to be awesome.

Poe, learn about tidal waters.

Check out Woo Daves videos on YouTube, if they are there. Woo fishes these waters and he is a master at it.

You want an outgoing tide. Your boater can "run the tide" or head up to the Chick River(45 to 50 minute ride at 60 MPH) and fish for the Florida strain bass that are thriving in that river.

Get with me before you head down and I may be able to fill you in about the Historic James River, the Appomattox River and the Chickahominy River.

Sam - thanks so much for the resources you listed, they are EXTREMELY helpful. Are you fishing either tournament on the James River this summer?

I'm currently trying to learn more about tides and what you said about fishing the outgoing tide makes more sense now. Yeah I have heard a lot about Chickahominy Creek and the big fish coming out of that stretch for sure. I have ordered my GMCO maps and I'm getting down with the historical research and map study nitty gritty. The historic James River is definitely a very interesting place and I can't wait to fish there.

No, not fishing either one.

Glad to be able to give you some guidance on the Historic James River.

Let us know how you do.

I'll be fishing all 3 opens!

I'll be there in June for the Rayovac. I fished the delayed Rayovac in August last Summer on the James and saw another angler pull one of those FL strain monsters out of the Chick (a 7 plus!). There were some big bags coming out of the James!!!
