Glide Bait Mods

Featured Replies

Has anyone messed with weight on glide baits? Specifically, I'm wondering if I can get a S Waver down ten feet and keep it there.

Hooks and split rings will change the sink rate. Get some suspend dots and play with them. To answer your question yes you can get that bait down.

I've found that SuspendDots have a tendency to change the action of a bait slightly. Instead, I use a small piece of solder wire wrapped around the shank of the lead treble. That'll keep it down and yet not interfere with the action. You should try various option in shallow water, so you can determine the effects with any bait alterations.

That's precisely what I'm getting at.  I wasn't sure if anyone had done the heavy lifting already and was willing to teach. I know of lots of mods but particularly with glide baits, it seems differences in action can have bad consequences. Like not getting bit

I have 8 suspendots, st66 hooks and owner split rings on one of my s waver 200s that makes it a rof 5
