Id like to attempt my first rod build but obviously with it being my first id like it to be CHEAP!  So could yall perhaps point me in the right directions to get the cheapest components?  Maybe a kit would be cheaper, im not sure, but figure yall know of some cheap parts.  I understand this isnt a cheap hobby but would like my first attempt to be as cheap as possible since i know it wont turn out very good.

The only thing I would do different is buy a kit.

Cabelas sells rod kits.

Fluke thanks for the link you posted very good information there.  

The cheapest rod kits I have found so far are about $50.  Are there any out there even cheaper or am i just wasting my time looking for them?
