Cranks with Flex Coat

Featured Replies

Here is my first batch using Flex Coat, 2 coats on each bait.   So far so good on the new top coat.

Those look great Marty. Flex-coat and E-tex are very similar in use and in the look of the finished bait but like you said two coats are usually required. I have no trouble with yellowing of either epoxy like with Devcon.

Yellowing Devcon is the reason I went looking for something new.   I still use D2T over my sealer to give me smooth surface to paint on.   I doubt I'll use it again as a clear coat.

You may have told me but I don't remember. How are you applying the flex coat?

Marty-Those baits look awesome. Are you now experimenting with topwaters? Looks good.

Thad, I brush it on.

bmadd, I didn't make the cup face deep enough on that one so not so much pop/spit.   It made a heck of a little walking bait.

That's the action I like out of the majority of my poppers anyway. What's the size/weight on it? I really like the color of that and the lure above it. What colors do you have on those bottom two?

Those Wobbler style cranks on top are awesome Marty.  The topwater looks great too.  Really like the foil like finish on the flatsides, kinda gives off a holographic look.

That would be holographic foil on the two bottom baits.

bmadd, the popper is 2 1/8 long, not sure on the weight my scale needs batteries.   I used #8 hooks and it sits almost level in the water.

It was real easy to get it walking.    I've got another one on the table to put togethre that's 2.5 long.   I hope to test that one this weekend.

Very nice! I like 1,3,and 4 the most.

Marty - - I haven't seen that little round bait before.....looks killer!!  Tight wobble?

The finishes are murder.......I especially like your take on the Horton scheme.

String, I think I've finally found that tight wiggle you've been looking for.    the funny thing is that it's from a semi round bait.   The Homer got 8 bites during a test round.

Where is the best place to buy the Flex-Coat. I got to find something beside D2T. Last couple of times I used it I broke out in a rash and my eyes was almost closed. Everyone needs to read the MSDS on its hardner. Has a Health Hazard of 3. Thanks!
