Culprit spinners, and buzz baits

Featured Replies

I bought a chartreuse and white spinner, and a chartreuse buzz bait the other day.  Does anyone fish these baits, and what is your favorite technique?  I was thinking about buying more, as they are a great price!  Thanks for any help you can give, in advance!  :)

No one has any comments, or suggestions on how to fish these?

I dindt even know Culprit made spinnerbaits or buzzbaits..do you have a picture?

Fish them the same way you would any other spinnerbait of buzzbait, company and brand name dosent change the way you fish it. Its still the same technique.

Unless you dont know how? I could maybe give you more tips. Take a look at the articles, there are many good writeups about both of these techniques.

These are my first spinner/buzz baits.  I have read so many different techniques, that I have become confused!  lol  I would really love some tips!  :)  Here are a couple pictures...

I was also not aware of them producing these.  The best thing is, they are dirt cheap!  I think I paid like 1.80 with tax, each.  :)  I want to get more, as they feel really nice, not flimsy, and the skirt is pretty nice.  ;)  The hooks seem satisfactory to the untrained eye...  It looks as nice as the strike kings I was going to buy, but these seemed a better choice, since I am a noob with spinner/buzz baits...

Just found this site also...  Shows the different colors that this site sells...  http://www.luresonline.com/shopping/spinnerbaits.html

I was going to buy a black, white/black, and firetiger when I bought these two also...  I think they also have them in red, orange...  Don't quote me on that though!  They run smooth though...  And the skirt is pretty thick and dense for the price!

I'll try with the buzzbaits. First, my personal preference is to always use a trailer hook. Use them when conditions are good for topwater, in general, warm water and low light periods, which doesn't mean they won't work at other times.

Pick your spot where you think the bass are located and start casting and retrieving. I start the retrieve before the lure hits the water so it doesn't sink and starts in with its action immediately. You can fish it just slowly enough to keep it on the surface or try faster retrieves. I like buzzbaits more than some other topwaters when there's a chop on the water or it's raining.

It's one of my most productive topwaters and very good for covering a lot of water.

With the buzzbaits and spinnerbaits, don't just cast out and reel in like alot of other chumps.  Give it a quick little 4insh burst to splash up some water maybe once or twice on a cast.  Usually just before you hit the fishy area.  Don't do it a whole lot because you could potentially yank it away from the fish on his strike.  If you do it just before the fishy area you get there attention before you get there.

The spinnerbaits you can do the same thing with, but you might try pitchin it into the worst cover possible and as you pull it out give it a quick bang across the stump or log, then let it flutter down for a seconed.  At $1.88 each you can certainly afford to lose a few.

Yeah.  They tend to make a hard splash it seems, no matter how you toss them!  I think I understand them, a bit better than before.  I just have to figure out how to use them...  lol  And don't let the price fool ya, you could change out the skirt if you really wanted, for about the same price....  Or even add to it, if you can get the material in bulk...  They have really dense skirts, so I think that they are perfect!  I want to add some more colored strands, and make my own combos!  :)
