Got A Rod & Reel For Easter!

Featured Replies

  • Super User

My uncle gave me his old Cabelas Megaroyal Plus MRP 200 (needs some reel Maintenance before it gets used...) and a Cabelas Fish Eagle II rod, the rod is rated for line 10-20lbs and 3/8oz to 2 1/4oz lures is 7' and has a pretty fast action.

I'm thinking once the reel is fixed up I could use it for swimbaits or something and the rod should be a decent swimbait/flipping/frogging rod until I can get something specifically for those applications...

Anybody every used this rod or reel?

Haven't used, but congrats getting a new combo is always fun! If it's free EVEN BETTER!

Congrats on the new-to-you combo.  I'm not familiar that setup, but I do like Cabela's stuff.  I have several Cabela's Salt Stryker reels for surf fishing.  That setup sounds pretty heavy duty, with the lure rating being 2 ¼ oz.  Enjoy!
