Seat Replacement For Kayak

Featured Replies

I just got anew ocean kayak trident and the seat on it is uncomfortable to say the least. I was curious as to what other options people have used that increased comfort on the water. from what I've read surf to summit makes a good seat but I've also read that the hobie seat is decent also. Has anyone used either?

ACK has a seat called the "gone fishin" seat. Its about the best there is. I love mine. I have had it for about three years now and its made a world of difference in my old tarpon. It makes 5hr paddles a breeze.

I also recently added a little foam stadium seat cushion from dicks- but academy and bps have them as well. This makes the seat even MORE comfortable !

The old style low seats will probably never be as nice as the new lawnchair seats. ... but I think this set up is as close as you can get.

S to S is the go to seat for most guys here on west coast

My wife complained about the seat in her Hobie Revolution so we bought the Surf to Summit Elite seat. This done well for a year and a half until the 2015 Hobie Revolutions came out and the seat was replaced. There are good aftermarket seats out there, but it's hard to beat a framed seat with real support.

this is one of the major reasons i use a sit in kayak.  there just isn't any back support w/ sit on top kayaks (unless ur willing to spend $1000+).

i go a step further and make sure i like the seat when fully 'reclined' and is pressing against the frame of the kayak.  lord knows the straps slip and I end up back there every hour. so many kayaks come with cheap plastic seat/hinge components that i don't trust them to last unless my full weight is resting on the frame.

Yeah Compared to other companies ocean kayaks seat offering are lacking to say the least. I'm going to check out what a few of the local shops have and go from there. Thanks for the input guys.

I just bought a 2015 Outback to get the seat and pedals
