Soft Plastic Mold Question

Featured Replies

i was wondering how hard is it to copy an exsisting soft plastic bait and make a hard master of it to make molds? because theres a few crawfish style baits i would love to have copies off and be able to make a lot of them

If they are flat bottomed it isn't too bad. super glue the flat side down in a plastic dish and wipe everything with a thin layer of oil or vaseline, keyword thin. Too much might mess it up. Pour in what ever mold material you want and let it cure. It should pop right out and you are set.

You can make RTV or plaster of paris molds easily enough. Go to you tube and check out mold making videos and the give it a shot. I will tell you that if you never poured plastic before you may want to make the molds and give them to someone who makes soft plastics to pour them for you, a lot more to it than just heating it up and pouring into a mold.

That requires a special insert and you aren't going to make copies of those, at least not like they come from the factory. The other thing is Paca Craws aren't expensive, you're better of buying them.
