Pouring soft plastics

Featured Replies

I am considering trying my hand at pouring some soft plastics.  Any advice.  Better yet, anyone got any supplies that they are not going to use that I might buy fairly cheap to see if I am going to continue this or not?

You can buy plastisol, coloring and molds pretty cheap at JannsNetcraft.  You can make your own molds out of a clay and plaster of paris even cheaper.  I just started this myself, the only advice I can give is to make sure you melt the plastic enough, but at the same time make sure you don't burn it or it's ruined.  I use a pyrex measuring cup and the microwave to heat mine, but I think a hot plate might work better at keeping it melted consistantly.  Give it a try.  FYI do it it a well ventilated area!!! :-X
