Two-tone plastic pouring

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I'm about to try my luck at pouring my own plastics and I'm just doing research at this point. I'm wondering how you make lures with multiple color layers, like the 'laminate' senkos. I'm wanting to have one color all the way down the underside of the lure and one for the top side.

This is an example of what I'm talking about http://www.*.com/product.php?productid=209&cat=32&page=1

These baits are pearl on the bottom and green on top. Just wondering how to pour these?

I'm looking at starting out with an aluminum mold from del-mar to get the hang of the plastic pouring- then making my own molds.  Any tips or suggestions?

1. heat plastic - first color

2. pour one color into one side or half of the mold or in the case of one sided molds, pour a shallow layer

3. Next color - hot plastic a necessity to bond

4. in the case of a two sided mold, close mold and carefully pour into the small cavity; for one sided molds, pour over the bottom color.
