Bass Coming Back To Spot That Was Empty From Drought

 I found a new spot (to me) it is so shallow about 1 to 2 ft.  really small pond.( pic included )

the fish are generally small about 1 to 2 pounds from what I have caught so far. 

 Here in California we have had a drought for a long time but after a winter of decent rain we actually have more water than usual for the last couple years. 

 

 my question is: Are these bass new? how long would it take them to get to the 1 to 2 pounds they are. I couldn't imagine they could live in there when the summer drys everything up again?
