Rapala Floater For Trout?

Featured Replies

Recently got the f7. Good size and casts good, but does anyone use the bigger sizes for trout? Don't need to much nonsense in my tackle box. Also what's the news on the rapala countdown? Seems like it might get stuck on debris or whatever on bottom of river more than I would prefer.

It all depends on the size of the trout you are targeting. Will an average sized stocker take that lure? Sure....sometimes it will happen. But to put the odds more in your favor, go for the smaller size instead. Better yet, the smallest Countdown Rapala is hard to beat. And do not loose sight of the 1/16 oz. jig head with a curly tail plastic on the back.

I just bought the countdown size 3. Only went out one time fishing with it, doesn't cast that far but I can't wait to hook up with a trout in deeper water. As far as other trout lures, I'm a lil fuzzy as to the size of spoon, or those inline spinners I believe their called. Panther martins, mepps, ph oebe lures. What size is good. I use a 4"6 ugly stick ultra light.

For inline spinners, I usually use 1/16 oz. to 1/8 oz. I'll go up to 1/4 oz. if I need to cast further, but that's about as big as I'll go.

Try a 1/16 oz. - 1/8 oz. Kastmaster spoon also.

Man, trout sure are picky eaters, they get spooked very easy...... I think that makes me want to catch them even more. Definitely into trout fishing more than bass fishing.. I like standing in the streams, no shirt, enjoying nature., waiting for a trout to slip up. They're so smart.
