What Do You Think(Shimano Crucial)

Featured Replies

I bought a new shimano crucial 7'2 medium extra fast dropshot rod, what do you think i could also use this rod for as i find myself fishing for largemouth bass the majority of the year,?

Thinking mostly, jerkbaits, tubes, senkos and weigtless texas rig. And what line do you think would suit the rod and the teqnique? Thanks

All the above. 15-20lb braid!

Agreed on the braid, though, for spinning I

choose 10lb test.

You can use a rod like that for quite a few

techniques. I use M power rods for most of

what I throw (which is soft plastics) and

recently added a MH Carbonlite for other

stuff like heavier jigs and plastics.

I have the crucial 6'10" m/xf spinner with a stradic 1000. Same rod as you except a tad shorter. Very versatile rod though. Any of those techniques can be easily done with it. Awesome rod to skip small swimbaits too!

That's up to you. I usually don't use a leader but a lot of people do. Weightless applications might do better with a leader but light poundage braid is pretty hard to see so I'm pretty confident not using one.

I have the first Gen 7"2 M xf cumara drop shot rod. For me it is a one trick poney (100% designated to dropshots). It is somewhat doable for flick shakes and small shakey heads. It isn't the right taper for senkos, tubes, and texas rigs(baits where a texposed hook would need to be set to get a fish hooked up). I am not saying they can't be fished on there but there are better rods for those techniques.

BTW it is a great drop shot rod. Absolutely love mine and would never sell it for a more expensive rod. I use mine over some of my more expensive spinning rods. Action, feel, and comfort are perfect for me. I am sure the crucial is nice just a touch below it.
