What reel signifies the origin of Daiwa lo-pro "ultralight" or BFS casting reels?

 

I have acquired an old Procaster Mini (PM-100) labeled as "ultralight" and I know of no others before these.  If there is/are others, what are they?  The Procasters supposedly arrived in early 80's??

 

I do know Daiwa also offered the Millionaire Mini (round) but I'm keeping this to lo-pro reels for now. 

The Presso and Liberto Pixy are the two most finesse oriented "early" casters I can recall that can truly go light. If there were other reels floating around prior to that I am not aware and not aware of their finesee capabilities.

The PL Series Daiwas were also great little reels for throwing worms and splitshotting. I have a brand new PS-10 that was one of their 1st low profile reels that had bushings instead of bearings,and a new PL100.

I have the PL-100 also.  It was my 2nd baitcast reel, I just don't remember what year I got it.  Seems to me it was sometime in the mid/late 70's but could be later I suppose.  Original sales receipt is not in the box and I can't find any dates on the box anywhere.

 

 

i'm going to put some good spool bearings the PM-100 and swap to a longer 80mm handle if I can find something I like.  Other than that just clean it up good and relube and catch a few fish with it.   Should be an interesting blast from the past!
