Okuma Helios Vs Daiwa Tatula Type R

Featured Replies

I'm looking at purchasing either an Okuma Helios (7:3:1) or a Daiwa Tatula Type R (8:1:1). Which reel would be better for frogs and topwater lures? I also plan on using 65lb braid.

Tatula would be the better choice for frogs. Just get a higher gear ratio and you are set.

The helios tcs comes in 8:1 ratio also.

Do you think the helios tcs is worth the extra money vs the type r? I can get the helios tcs for around $160 and the type r for around $130 on ebay. Is there much of a difference in quality?

The bearings are probably a lot better on the Helios v. the Tatula. Also, why do you want to buy the TCS. What's wrong with the regular version? You can get the regular version off of amazon for around 130$

I don't really need the TCS. It just has the higher ratio which is a little faster. I've had a few Daiwa reels and really like how they performed. I just saw the Helios for around the same price and was trying to figure out which one would be a better bang for the buck.

Okuma vs Daiwa? Pretty much guarantee you're going to be happier with a Daiwa 99% of the time.
