I've been tossing around ideas on how to get off the shore and this seems like a fun way to do it.

A lot of people do it here in south florida, and it looks pretty fun. They're pricey though and you'd have other options in that price range for a new paddle board.

Yeah a lot of them are in the 1k range but there are some around 4-500. Lots of inflatable options too.

I would imagine cruising the canals for peas would be a blast.

It would be fun, but if it's just going to be used for fishing I would look into a jon boat, bassraider, or a kayak. If you want to use it to paddle around inshore and stuff and fish off of it also I would go with the paddle board.
