ok well clearly this setup isnt going to handle decent swimbaits.so i need to find a better setup.

LOL you guys. Telling him he is asking to loose swimbaits with 12# floro then recommending braid... If your really asking about 1-3 oz I personally use 12 or 15# CXX  in that range. Also you don't "need" a 300 size reel to throw a 3 oz bait. Sorry but that is just nonsense really. It is nice to have a bigger reel as they are generally heavier gearing, hold more line and of a heavier # and that will give you more distance, they also usually come in a 5 something ratio for more cranking power. You can use a standard low profile but it might take a beating a lot quicker and wont cast quite as far but you will be alright. Throw on some 15# line such as  P-Line CXX, Izorline XXX, Big Game, Mean Green, Trilene XL. Those are all plenty strong and will do fine. If your worried about it bump it up to 17# then.

thx.   not sure why no one suggested i stay away from the 3 oz baits with this rod and use the smalled 1oz guys
