Idea to create own spoons

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Just want to know if any of you have tried this in the past.

I love fishing with spoons and have decided that it might be cheaper to create my own custom spoons instead of paying 5-15 dollars each time i need a new one.

Here's my idea:

Go to goodwill or Salvation Army and purchase some old silverware spoons. Buy some enamel paints. Cut round spoon end off, drill a couple of holes, paint, add a treble hook and presto new bait.

Has anyone done this in the past and if so, what kind of paints should I purchase and what kind of treble hook would you recommend.

I have a book written by C. Boyd Pfriffer called "The complete book of tackle making" has a whole chapter on how to makke your own spoons
