Cheap Flies

Featured Replies

Anyone know a good spot to find cheap flies for bass/ bluegill/ trout? Either online or around Denver. I lose a lot of flies on snags and bad casts (just starting out) so I can't really afford to pay 2.50 for flies and have a good selection.

Betts makes some great bass and bluegill poppers.  Also buying the multi-packs/assortments will usually be the cheapest way to go.

For 2-pack flies the generic brand Crystal River is about as cheap as they get and sold at most sporting goods stores.

Also South Bend/"SilverLake" is a cheap brand and you can usually find them in multi-packs at Walmart....very cheap but they work for bass and bluegill.  You can get a 55 pack for like $20.

You can also modify them a bit without having to ruin expensive flies.

By the way I'm moving to Colorado in late November :)

I can't wait to explore the angling opportunities out there.

I agree you should get a kit from cabelas. They come with a fancy little fly box to.

Fishing here is awesome! Trout, bass, pike, carp, etc. your coming around the beginning of winter but you can fish year round- there are even some 60 degree days in mid-winter.

Thanks that's great to hear :)

It's good to know there will be some fishable days in winter...I tend to get cabin fever when I can't go fishing.

Also good to hear there are carp out there as I love carp fishing.
