Got a few questions on joints

Featured Replies

i was just wondering what joints u guys would recommend using for swimbaits. i have made a few and have used to eyes then used epoxy to glue them to the bait. i like these because of the free motion i get and the fact that they are strong.  i live in minnesota and gotta worry about those darn toothy critters stealin lures from ya. i've seen a few and the pin and tenon ones look good too but i don't know if they would hold up to a 50 inch muskie. thanks for any help

If you are having no trouble with screw eyes then thats what I would use. Have tried a whole lot of hinge types and twisted stainless steel is what I use most of the time. Screw eyes and twisted wire will work the same but with the twisted wire you can make them as heavy or light as you like, in any length and they are much less expensive than buying .092 stainless eyes. I also have a very quick method to twist them if you decide to go that way.

thanks for the info. i have made a few with the hinges style and they seem to hang up sometimes and i don't like that and i have made a few with the stainless twist wire eyes and i like those a lot better. i think i am going to go with that because they are much more durable i have a couple of baits done ad hope to get pictures up soon thanks for the help. and if u don't mind sharing the way you twist them it would be much appreciated

thanks again jeremy
