problem with melting my own plastic worms

Featured Replies

can someone help, i have been trying to make my own plastic worms but am unsuccessful, i am not sure what i am doing wrong. i melt the plastic till its clear and add the color, but when i pour the plastic its a little too hard, i do add softener to the plastic while its being heated, and also the plastic sometimes has no consistency, i dont have a happy medium. any help is greatly appreciated thank you

Plastisol settles and also seperates. You need to mix your liquid plastic better. Put something in the container to scrape the bottom. Once you get it thouroghly mixed it should be much better

Be sure you are getting it up to 340 -350 degrees.  Don't guess if you're just starting.  :)

I think thee 2 guys are dead on. Depending on what plastic you are using, soft medium hard, it takes a little different amount of heating time. The harder compounds take a little longer than the softer stuff.

Like the previous posts say, mix well and make sure you get it hot enough.

Good luck

not to hijack the thread but how do you melt used worms? Preferably using household stuff? If you can
