Hello,

 

I need help finding a good reliable travel, pack, or telescopic rod(s).

 

I plan on using it for trout, bass, crappie, etc.

 

Something from 6'6" to 8', that breaks down to at least 3 pieces.

A rod or rod/reel combo is fine.    Spinning or casting rod.

 

I prefer to keep the cost under $80.

 

How are the ones offered by: Daiwa, Shakespeare, Quantum, Zebco, Eagle Claw, Mitchell, Berkley?

 

Has anyone tried them?  If so, ho'd they handle?  Any major problems?

I would like to know also. I have bought a couple over the years. Cheaper shakespeare models. Total waste of $ unless you are fishing for baby bream.

I have read some good reviews on the st.croix travel rods. But not any first hand accounts on this forum. 

I have a good deal of experience with travel rods, however not in the price range you are looking for.    I have fished with the Fenwick Methods travel rod that belongs to my buddy, and it is decent for the price.  Also, it is like getting 2 rods for the price of 1.  That would be my recommendation for a lesser expensive rod.  Also, some guys have taken the BPS brand 3 piece rods down to Mexico and they work.  I think they might be close to your budget.

I picked up a Browning Safari 6'6" ML 4 piece at BPS for $80. It is really nice, doesn't feel like a multi piece rod at all. It is just as sensitive as my 1 piece Berkley Lightning rod.

I have two BPS Extreme travel rods.  they go on sale for $70-80 and include a hard tube

I done some (a lot) searching.    What are the thoughts on these rods & combos?   **Some may repeat**
