Removing a Reel Seat

Featured Replies

What is the best way to remove a reel seat and guides. I am making a Noodle rod from a Fly rod and want to keep the blank in the best condition. Thanks in advance.

I'm actually in the process of that right now. If you boil the reel seat it will come loose. The problem I'm having is that I'm doing a casting rod and don't have a big enough pot to submerge the seat. I found this method rod building.com

boil it. Just watch the water temp. Over 180 deg F and you can alter the shape of the blank. Problem is it takes 212 deg F to boil water. Just be careful with it.

Thanks for the tip guys! I think I will try it on a rod that is broken just to get the hang of it first.
