Hi everyone! I have a 1999 Mercury 200 EFI and i need to replace the water pump. On the Mercury website when i searched the parts its says i need the 46-96148A 5 kit for my engine. Bass Pro carries the "=======Q 8. The "=======A 5 is said to replace the "=======A 1, A 5 and A 8 and the "=======A 8 is said to be the same as the "=======Q 8. So I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if the one bass pro has will work for my boat.

Put the s/n of your motor in, it will tell you exactly what parts you need along with showing you a diagram of the motor. This is of course mercury parts, aftermarket parts are generally not shown on that website.

Since there don't seem to be many Mercury gurus here, I would suggest you try here http://www.screamandfly.com/forumdisplay.php?20-Technical-Discussion/page2&order=desc. A lot of these live eat, and sleep with Mercs and probably your best source of info.
