First Carp On The Fly

After more failed attempts to count I finally connected and landed one. What a fight my arm got a little tired with this guy I'm used to catching smallies on the fly. Had another one on but he broke me off like three minutes into the fight.

Very nice. after getting skunked and having a dry spell it feels great to finally get that fish.

I have only caught 2 on the fly, but they are by far my favorite fish to catch on it. Nice catch man

Congrats, very cool. :)

What fly did that one hit by the way, a nymph?

Awesome!!  one of the most underrated fish out there.

No doubt.  Fantastic fighters on any tackle.

It was one heck of a fight I seen it in about 1.5' of water I casted out infront of it wiggled it like my buddy suggested because of their poor eye sight and he swam up and sucked it up. Soon as I set the hook he took off like a rocket for that downed tree in that pic. Let him run to my backing and then stopped him before he got under the tree. Arm was a little tired after landing and fighting him. I tried to get a few more but they wernt as Into it. I did get two rock bass though

Congratulations.  I've pursued carp on the fly more times than I can count and I've failed hopelessly.  I know how hard this can be.  Awesome job.

That would be fun!  I've caught a LOT of carp in my life but never on a fly.

Nice job!  It's on my list of things to do...

Tight lines,

Bob

It took me months of failed attempts gotta be part ninja I swear especially in the shallow clear creeks I fish. My buddy goes out and hammers them almost every cast he makes towards one. He told me, gotta be a ninja, get in front of them and wiggle the fly they have terrible eye sight, hold on. I started getting better luck when I moved to bright flashy flys. The one this guy took and several others since then have been a white wooly bugger with a gold head and chrome tinsle like wrap around the body. They can't resist it.

I'm sightfishing gin clear water in the great lakes too. Probably doesn't help!
