Featured Replies

i saw this ree on GM and the specs seem pretty sweet. carbon fiber and 9+1 bearings.

anyone have opinions on these? i know stores have reels made that are the exact same as name brands but better price. is this the case here?

I was at Gander a few weeks ago and the guy in the fishing dept. told me that Ardent makes their reels.  I don't know anything about Ardent reels so I can't make a statement.  Maybe someone on here can comment?  I have been looking into store brand baitcasting reels too just because they're a whole lot cheaper than brand name.

I have been looking at these reels myself.  they look like they may be a good reel for the price.

At the price of $69, I'm willing to bet the hen house that the "carbon fiber" that you see is simply a vinyl image wrap, and not true carbon fiber.

If I were to be spending $70 on a spinning reel, I'd be getting a Shimano Sahara.

agreed. With a shimano you won't be taking a gamble on the quality, especially in that price range.

Well I have a sahara and I love it. But also in that price range now is the Abu garcia orra sx reel, I've been trying to get my hands on that in a trade..

That's what I was thinking too, but at the same time couldn't they get in trouble for advertising a false material?

Bingo... Go with a known brand if the price range is comparable. The Sahara is a good reel. I use one all the time with no problems. Private label sellers will change manufacturers to meet margin requirements. So they are basically disposable items. They just want the sale but no service or questions answered.

i never heard a bad thing said about the h2o brand. when i first got into baitcasting i was tempted to but the h2o xpress mettle baitcast reel, 60 bucks i think. now seeing this spinnig reel at 7.4oz for the 30 size is tempting..
