Mapping Dilema

Featured Replies

Getting prepared for my HB 899 installation.  It looks like both navionics and lakemaster both have really shotty coverage of my state (Louisiana).  Is my best option just getting the AutoChart pro that comes with the zero-line card?  Are there any other options that I am missing/ not evaluating?

Navionics Sonar Charts.

It is free with Navionics+ and Hotmaps Platinum cards.

You can view the current maps on the Navionics website's Web App.

If you ever make it to Louisiana, I owe you a steak or a beer or both :)

The autochart vs sonar charts depends on if you want to share your data or not. I went with autochart to keep my map data private. If it's a public lake soMar charts is probably the better choice since you can get map data other people submit

I ended up going with navionics + preloaded. I uploaded my first recording of a bayou

How big is your lake. Mine was 350 acres and took approx 200 hours and a couple hundred in gas

My second example is a 420 acre lake. I did not use any gasoline, it is electric-only. I just recorded some each trip there. It is still an on-going project. Until every square foot is recorded, the map will not be completely accurate.

I save all my Tracks so I know where I need to collect data.
