Mama Cat clone

Featured Replies

Barry, finally got you a bait that I'm happy with.   Still have to do the sealer coat of epoxy and then it's off to the post office.

Wow, you nailed that one Marty, looks great.

To the new builders on here take special notice of the bottom of that bait and how everything is in perfect alignment, thats the way its done.

Killer job, Marty.  It's amazing to me how you keep things so symmetrical on these rounded baits.

Thanks guys, this bait was a tough nut to crack.   That darn Bagley taper is hard to do by hand.

Sides look a little flat but pretty darn close.  Good job!  ;)

My version is not as wide as the original bait.   I would need some 2 inch thick stock to an exact copy.

The original bait is approx 1.25 inches wide.   They didn't call it Mama Cat for nothing.

I would totally throw that!  It's a great looking bait, again!  Marty, you are the man!

My version is from 1 inch stock, that's why the sides look a little flat.   I did not want to lose the width by totally round the sides.   What I will do with the next bait is glue 2 pieces of 3/4 stock together and make a true round bait.

Thanks for the info! Can't wait to see your next ones.

I personally prefer hybrid round/flat sides like the one you just did over purely round baits.

Flat surfaces on the sides provide both more "flash" and a more distinctive vibration.

''''''''''EVERYONE, STAY AWAY FROM MY BAIT""""""""" lol... Man, great job Marty.. I knew you could knock it out..  ;)

Barry, it's not perfect.   After you paint it and fish it then you can tell me how close I got to the original.

Hey Marty, don't sell yourself short.  Could be a new run of baits for you!
