Lake Patoka

Featured Replies

Howdy,

I'm gonna be fishing Lake Patoka this weekend. I've never been and haven't even fished in Indiana before. So ANY advice is welcome, current conditions, what to throw, where to throw it, it doesn't matter haha.

Thanks

Buzz baits early then hollow belly swimbaits, if that doesn't work try finesse worms.

Pop R's the first 1 hour then back out in the channel & I would throw a Carolina rig.. Rip rap, try jig & trailers.. Search for schooling bass if your able and chase & catch those fish.. Also I've got on some good patterns with tubes in and around shallow weed beds... Here's a strong tip: flukes over weed beds ( unweighted ) not senkos, Zoom flukes in watermelon or pro blue..

Good luck..

Oh, if you fish at night, troll the channels w deep diving crankbaits.. That's usually how I catch my biggest LMB

Thanks guys! Are you guys into the fall transition yet?

Last weekend the bass were still deep, but a cold front just came thru so that might change things.

Oct.. ( when there's good color on the leaves )

Warning.. You may catch 10 to 1 on crappie vs bass throwing 6 to 8 foot diving crankbaits..

Lots of fun though.. ( Bonus ) lake is not busy.. & way more enjoyable.
