Minn Kota Edge 70

Featured Replies

Busted the cables on my Edge 70 after taking  off with my trolling motor down (I'm sure we have all done this...Me a thousand times...Numb really)  This time it broke unfortunately and inside the housing on top of the unit looks like a bomb went off as both cables snapped and sent parts flying. The plastic(cheap) gears look ok but probaly should be replaced as well. I am hoping this can be a quick easy and inexpensive fix.  Anybody have experience with this?

Been there done that been lucky wonder if its cheaper to huy a "new" tm? Should get a good deal I would think. Junebugman

Here in Maryland we have a guy that is factory authorized and is really good at these type repairs.  Check with MK to see if they have a guy near you.  It truly is your best option. I needed to fix a magnet problem.  He had my unit apart, diagnosed, parts pulled from stock and my 70 Maxumm back together in 45 minutes.  I think it cost me less than $75 dollars.

I don't know where you are but there's a guy in Wichita. Curt's Trolling motor service. He is also a factory guy and for both MK and Motorguide.

I'm sure you can get his # on line from MK or MG.

Thanks Guys.  I ordered new cables.  Hoping I can get them back on.  I live in Maine and there are no repair service centers in my area.
