Duckett Ghost

Featured Replies

So I want to get a rod/reel combo that can handle deep cranks and a rigs. I was thinking Abu Garcia orra winch on 5.4 gr and duckett ghost in 7'6"xh but they do not rate the weight they can throw. I'm sure it can handle large crankbaits but maybe not an a rig. Does anyone know how much weight a ghost 7'6"xh can handle?

I can't tell you how much weight it can handle, but I can tell you that you don't want to be throwing cranks on an extra-heavy. For cranks you want something with quite a bit of give to it otherwise you'll be ripping the hooks out of the fish's mouth before it can get a grip on the bait. I throw medium divers on a medium power rod, and deep divers (15+ feet) on a med-heavy.

I have that rod.  it is not really a fast but not a medium either. I use it to throw mid size swim baits 2-4oz with out any issues.  I have not tried an A-rig  but i don't see it have any issues.
