Wanting to get started with Pouring baits.

Featured Replies

I have been kicking the idea around, and am possibly interested in pursuing pouring my own baits.

Whats all involved? What equipment is necessary?Where do you get the supplies from.

Im a 100% Disabled Veteran(Unemployable) and may be able to have the Veterans Administration help me with some of the expenses involved(Havent approached them yet)

The VA has been known to help Veterans out in providing equipment in gainful hobbies.

I know of a Veteran that has a woodworking hobby, and the VA purchased an entire woodshop(Tools,equipment...Everything) for him, just so he could maintain a healthy mindset while doing something constructive..

So if they would do that for a woodworker, why wouldnt they provide something similar for a fisherman?

I need to get info about the costs involved for the molds, where to obtain them and such,so I can present this stuff to the VA if I decide to approach them about this.Any additional information is greatly appreciated

google worm molds, you will find alot of places that sell the molds, plastisol, and other products you will need. im about to get into it too and im also a vet.

Some great places to hang around in are http://www.tackleunderground.com/, great site but it has slowed down on responses,

another one is http://www.bearsbaits.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=631a7499420225bf6bf8079fd5aba9c7;wwwRedirect;action=forum and this place is hoppen with feed back quickly, the other plus thing is it has a chat room so you could join and get on there and start asking away.

just hangen around the sites dedicated to making baits is a great start

You will need to decide if you want to heat the plastic up by Microwave, or a heat burner. Also you got two styles mainly and thats pouring or injecting. Bears baits has a killer injection system you can check out on his videos at his site. The injection system is higher in dollars to get into but if the VA helps out that then great! alot of guys here do it but, I would join the other forums too stated above. well others will want to tell you more so I'll let them have at it

You will enjoy it :)

your welcome to pm me on questions ;)

There are a few places to get supplies for plastics. Bearsbaits is where I get my supplies. He has a broad selection of things and has the customer service adn support forum as well. A couple other places is Lurecraft.com and MF manufacturing and Delmart.
