Mudhole Epoxy Bubble Buster

Featured Replies

Have you seen this yet and anyone try it yet?

Specially formulated for rod builders to release and help remove the bubbles that occur when applying 2-part epoxy finish to your rods.

works by releasing the surface tension of the 2-part epoxy, allowing the encapsulated bubbles to rise and burst. They say it leaves no residue, I will like to try this.

here's a vid of it

or just hit it with a blow dryer on low after you mix the heck out of it.. That's pretty cool though.

yea, i even nuked it a few times, I've come to fine that a few brushes i failed to clean but kept anyway work better applying finish.

This mudhole stuff to me would be cool for my 12 yr old son to have, he's built two rods so far and this last one he wants to do a tiger wrap. be kinda nice to have for him to help him after he worked his butt off. thats alot of finish he needs to apply, plus i can see it helping newbies come along on some first builds.

lol. I've nuked it quite a few time's too! I don't make rod's but I custom paint crank's and another trick that work's is to heat up the bait (just a little) and then apply the epoxy. Bubble's pop on contact. I would imagine it would work with rod's also...

If you have a rod turner used for turning rod while finish dries you can easily (no cost) use it for an epoxy mixer that will keep the epoxy bubble free from the start. Tilt the drier back against something and stick an empty mixing cup in it. in another cup put each part of finish in (do not mix) add a 1/4-20 x 3/8 bolt with a 1/4-20 nut on it, stick cup with unmixed epoxy and nut/bolt it in the empty cup mounted in the drying motor and let it slowly spin for about 3 minutes. You will have perfectly mixed bubble free finish.

I am new to rod building myself. But a guy gave me a tip and I tried it. I mix the epoxy in a cup, but before I get started, I form a bowl with tin foil. After I mix the epoxy up, I pour it on the foil and just run my lighter under it and it eliminates the bubbles. I have some of the spray in my cart though for my next mudhole order though for just grins and giggles.
