Yes. do the same thing you would do with a gun..get a good prep ...and a good final clear coat.... its hard to do eyes with can paint, it may be better to order some.. binder supports make good shad dots..various hair combs make stripe patterns.. aquarium nettings makes scales.its different though unless you can find pearls and candy paint, metal flakes ect.in a can..

For the eye's, Use a hole punch and punch a hole in some paper. Use it as a stencil for your spraypaint. Should work fine... Personally I use the base of drill bit's. Just dip in paint, and press on the bait...

What exactly is a clear coat?

Clear coat is used to make things shiny or give them a nice protective coating. I used to put 3 coats of color, then like 12 coats of clear when I used to make those little CO2 dragsters (like boy scouts little derby cars, only cooler ). It just comes in a spray can like any other paint, only its clear.

@ gar-tracker, it depends on the clear-coat you use.  The best topcoats that I've used are epoxy coatings designed for rod-building.  There are other coatings that are used on lures that provide good protection, but I don't have experience with them.  My current topcoat is Flex Coat Ultra V, which is a two part epoxy rod finish available from Mudhole.com.

I airbrush my lures, and I use createx airbrush paint and thinned Wal-Mart craft paint.  I formerly used aerosol paint cans and they worked pretty well, but you don't have nearly as much control as you have with an airbrush.

gartracker-I used the cheapest Walmart spray paint on these for a basic rattle trap repaint, nothing fancy about these..The black one  is w/ a flat top coat. While the white has a gloss top coat.
