Looking for Fishing location in the Indianapolis area

Featured Replies

Hi there, I am a college student who attends the University of Indianapolis and am unfamiliar with the area because i am from MI. I have a rowboat, and am looking for any lakes, channels, bodies of water, etc. that are great fishing spots for my rowboat. I mainly fish for panfish, but love catching catfish, and bass. I am willing to drive up to 30 minutes for a great spot around the Indianapolis area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

you'll get some info from those in that area.

Eagle creek is good,  but gets pricey,  fall creek has some good launch spots and turns up some good bites around the broad ripple area,  Good luck

You have Ft. Harrison state park with Delaware pond. And what the others have listed.

Delaware is okay for shore fishing, gets crowded on the weekends. Best thing I can advise is google earth and look for places to bank fish or launch your rowboat. Or to make friends with locals and hit up housing edition ponds in the area which are always a gem for a nice 5# every now and then.

Like others have said, Eagle Creek Park. I have been to Lilly Lake within the park but not the reservoir itself. There is Boones Pond in Boone County just off I-65, good for non gas boating, not sure how the fishing is, I didn't catch anything. If anyone has been there please chime in.

There is a nice bank fishing pond open to the public in Carmel and I have access to a couple private subdivision ponds in Westfield that have turned out descent fish. PM me if interested in private ponds and I can get you in on occasion.
