G. Loomis IMX 802C JWR or St. Croix TBC610MXF

Featured Replies

Looking for a medium powered rod with a super fast taper, and these two seem to fit the bill.  Primary application would be plastics, but I would like to use them for the occasional topwater / spinnerbait fishing.  I'm not very techy, I go by past experience; I have a GL2 (H/F) that I really like and a St. Croix MBG (M/MF) cranking rod that I really like, as well.  I can go either way - what say you?

Thx,

EGS

Thanks man, appreciate that.  I gotta buy local, though.  I have a $100 gift card a local shop...

You can always save it for another rod ;)

Nah, it's getting harder and harder to help my wife understand why I need so much fishing tackle/gear.

Dude I get it. I bought 5 rods this offseason and constantly peruse the Internet for others. Just bring it back to all the shoes she owns. You'll defuse the situation ;)

Both  nice rods.  Having both stcroix and loomis rods I would expect that the stcroix to have a heavier action.  Maybe closer to a light 3 series?  I would pick the rod on what your main use for it will be.

Yes, both very nice... I prefer the IMX over the LTB...  But for you to know, you really need to have both in your hand (with the reel on) and see how it feels.  That's the best you're going to get short of a "Test Drive".
