Is the Yum Dinger so light?

Featured Replies

In my ultimate quest for a very reliable go to bait, I have the BPS 3" Stik-o and the Yum Dinger 3" down. I'm leaning towards the Yum Dinger, since it is very durable and thinner than the Stik-o, but I read that it is light, and lighter than the Stik-o. Are the Dingers actually light?

If the Dingers are that worth it, I am planning on getting a weighted hook for them, or possibly nail weights. Would that really retard the action?

I would say yes, they are. BPS Stik-Os have a lot
of salt in them, and if I'm correct, YUM didn't
salt-impregnate the newer Dingers, hence they'd
be lighter.

I can't speak for the 3" version, but the 4" and 5" versions of the dinger are pretty light in comparison to GY Senko.  I like the Senkos, but it was hard to pass up a bunch of singers at 2 bucks a pack last summer.

Since I am a bank beater, and want to go light, I was wondering if I could cast the 3" Dinger weightless on a bait caster. Is the difference in weight between the Dinger and Stik-o that big?

That will be determined by your reel, rod and line. If you have a rod that handles lighter weights, a reel that will cast lighter weights and if you use light enough line, then the only variable left is you ;-) Spinning gear would be an easy choice if you're not sure about the capabilities of your rod/reel/line setup.

get you a bag of each and do a little test in some water on the fall rate.  fill up a rubbermaid tote or something with water and play around with them and record the actions on the drop to see which one performs to your satisfaction.

I like the action o the Dinger better, I seen my friend's. How much lighter is it than the Stick-o (same length)?

Yum Dingers have about the best action for a widely available commercial senko type bait .
