I am looking at either the 6'10mh tatula or a powell 674 that a local shop has brand new. This will be a all around rod used for a little bit of everything. Which one would you guys recommend?

i have that model tatula and love it, super all around rod.  can't comment on the powell though.

Love the Endurance line. Have the 673, 694, 714, and two 723's and they arent going anywhere.

I can speak for the Tatula. They are great sticks, incredibly light and sensitive, and he rod will last you forever. Highly recommend this rod

The Powell is a Heavy Extra-Fast, but its lure rating is the same as many MHF casting rods.  Personally I like a bit longer rod as a general rule, but must admit I have a 6'8" I like.  That extra 2" over a 6'6" rod is probably mostly in my head.  Do I have a complex of some kind? 

I have the 723 Endurance and 3 Tatula rods although none are the 6'11" model.  If you have no rod length preference, then either should work well for you.  If you fish from shore a lot, a shorter rod can be a benefit in close quarters.  The Tatula should yield longer casts if that is important to you.

I like both models and don't ever plan on selling either.  I do wish I could still pick up a couple more Endurance models.

Personally I think you need both. 

haha yes and the bait monkey does also, the reason I want the shorter rod is because I am mostly a bank fisherman so the long rods get a a little interesting to cast. How do these compare to the max 3d?

I'm a Powell rod guy for sure.  Not familiar at all with the Diawa rods, but I would say either should be fine, put your reel on both rods and see which one balances better.   Personally, if you're on a boat, flipping to trees, I would go with a shorter rod.  I know that is against the normal grain, but I have the Powell Endurance 775, flipping stick and the length hurts I feel when pitching to docks and trees, 

No experience with the Max 3D.  I agree.  Fishing from shore with trees, bushes, weeds, etc. in the way raises Holy heck with a baitcast rod.  I need more casting room than with a spinning rod.  Sounds like the shorter rod is the way for you to go.

Why would the Tatula cast longer than the Endurance? That doesn't even make sense.

The Tatula rod he is considering is longer...In general, longer rod = longer casts.

Gotcha. I thought he was talking about the rod lines in general. I see the logic there.
