Di is not that usefull on its own. It should be used split screen with your sonar.

If you just bang the bank neither. Si shows structure and contours to the side for further from the bank. Creek channels, stumps, brush, rocks etc.

SI is better no matter what species you seek or the waters applied on.

I find myself using di to mark schools of fish more than I do with si
