Lowrance Elite 4 w/CHIRP vs. Lowrance Hook 4 w/CHIRP

Featured Replies

Which one of these is the better deal? I would like a economical fish finder with CHIRP and GPS...don't need anything super fancy but would like color and the DI and CHIRP.

You should be able to find the elite pretty cheap since they discontinued it. Nothing at all wrong with the elite 4 chirp, I have one and it works just fine.

I just bought an elite 4 but haven't gotten it yet. Can you mount one to the trolling motor and, if so, how? I've seen the little adapter with the hose clamp kit, is that really all you need?

So is the Hook version the newest version?

Yep, and some zip ties to attach the cable to your motor shaft.

You can buy a universal adapter for trolling  motors (just the plastic wedge piece and hose clamp), or for a little more protection you can buy the HDI trolling motor kit from lowrance which consists of the TM mount plus a plastic cover that goes over your transducer to protect it from damage.

Yes, new for 2016

Thanks Kevin, solid info.

Hey Brett, I also have an Elite 5 from 2014. 2014 was just called "Elite", 2015 was "Elite Chirp", and now 2016 is called " Hook".  They all seem to be about the same thing. I love my Elite 5.
