Tube / Weightless soft plastics rod

Featured Replies

So I've got a new 6'8 MXF spinnin rod here that I'm planning on using as mostly a weightless soft plastics and tube rod. I'm not too sure whether I should go w/ a Fluorocarbon or braid on the rod. I fish waters that vary from extremely clear, to very stained water w/ just a few feet of visibility. Given what this rod will be used for, would you guys go w/ a braid or fluoro?

Most people fish braid but the reason for that isn't because it's better for the situations you described. Braid doesn't twist your line so if you used braid with a leader you could conceivably fish that braid for fishing seasons and not change your line many times in a given season.

I would go for 10-20# braid with a light leader
