Jack Plates-HOt Foots

Featured Replies

Are Jack plates worth geting installed on your boat? and why? Are Hot foots worth the price?

I have both on my boat and wouldn't have it any other way.

The Hotfoot is not very expensive. You can have one put on your boat for $100 or less.

Jackplates help reach the optimal level of speed and performance available from your boat.

A hydraulic jack plate will also enable you to take off and run in shallower water..Just keep an I eye on your engine temp and water pressure, because you can get the motor to high, which will bring down the water pressure and make the engine temp. go up.. Make sure your hot horn works! A Hotfoot and Trim switch at the wheel, will give you more boat control. Especially in rough water.

A jack plate is well worth the money. The biggest gain you will see with a jack plate is going to be top end speed. They will allow you to put your motor at the correct depth for the prop you are running. The bigger jack plates also set your motor back so they are not running in cavitated water. the idea behind a jack plate is to allow your boat to trim out further, which equals more top speed. The hot foot is a must have, without it you cannot keep both hands on the wheel and control throttle at the same time, as flippinfish said they are a must have in rough water.

I can ditto everything said. Once you have them, you'll never want it any other way. I was nervous about the hotfoot, but once you get used to it, it is really nice. :o

yea i believe any boat with big motors should have a hotfoot its alot safer....i just installed a trim switch at the wheel ...... i love it

Trim switch at the wheel is definatley a good idea too! I dont have one on my boat but sometime when i'm not feeling lazy i'll probally install one.
