Do I really need down imaging on the trolling motor? Here's my future setup. 2 helix 10's but on the back I definitely want side imaging. On the front I was thinking SI, but now I'm leaning more to just 2D sonar and map. Is there really a big advantage to have SI up front? What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance!

I use SI and 360 at the bow with both transducers on the trolling motor. 

I do not use DI at all for fishing and 2D very little.

I want to see what is away from under the transducer as well as what is under it. It's all about the coverage.

When the technology first came out I could not afford two units, so I bought one unit but two transducers and two mounting brackets - one for the console/transom and one for the bow/trolling motor.  I tried using SI at the front but was never able to successfully incorporate it into fishing.  IMO, GPS/2D is all you need up front unless you plan on getting the 360 later.  I use DI less than 1% of the time.  The only time I do use DI is when I'm having trouble deciphering 2D.

I did the same thing, started with a Humminbird 798ci SI Combo, and that convinced me to get more Humminbird Side Imaging units with larger displays.

All you need to know is how to adjust it so it is a tool at the console and at the bow.
