Need trolling motor mounting help on my kickboat

Featured Replies

Just got a Outcast Fishcat Cougar today which has a motor mount for a transom mount trolling motor.

I already have a Minn Kota Power Drive bow mount unit that I would like to use and not have to buy another motor.

Anyone have any ideas on how to go about mounting that bad boy.  I was thinking I might have to go to a metal/welding shop and get them to make me something.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am just looking at pictures of the boat I think you have.  A fab shop could build something with no problem.  If you want to remove the motor and shaft from the original mount and attatch it to the boat a fab/machine shop maybe the way to go.

From what I see there is an aluminum tray behind the seat.  Could you extend that by putting marine grade plywood on top of it and and then attatch the existing motor mount  to it or install a Minn Kota quick release bracket on it then attatch the motor mount?  If the (what appears to me to be aluminum plate on a tubeing cross member)  is heavy enough gauge you could use stainless bolts thru the alum. sheet,  if not you could use  U-bolts around the bottom of the tubeing then up thru the plywood extention deck.  Use washers or plywood as a spacer if needed to make it as ridgid as possible.  Sorry if I am no help.
