What about Yamaha V-Max

Recommended Posts

One of the boats I have found in the past couple of days that is local is a 1 year old Stratos 201 Pro XL.  It is loaded with about every extra imaginable and has less than 25 hours of use.  It is parked at a Marine dealership where I live but it is not being sold by the dealer, he is letting the owner park it there as a favor.  The dealer wouldn't give me a firm price because its not his to sell but rather he will contact the seller for me with my inquiry.  I have a hunch it is less than $24k cause the owner is going through a divorce and wants to get rid of it.  The question I have is- it has the Yamaha V-Max 3.1L OX66 250 HP motor on it.  I have noticed that lots of newer boats are going with the new Evinrude E-Tec and Mercury Verado...is there a reason that I shouldn't get this boat because of the motor.  Anything bad about them or anything personally you have to add would be helpful. Thanks

I would say 24K is a steal for that boat!!!! I dont own a Yamaha(mines a merc.) but I wish I did. A ton of people in our bass club run the hpdi's and all of them love em. I am not haapy with me merc. It has ahd a lot of electrical problems so I wont rig my next boat with merc. It will definatley be a Yamaha. By the way, the only reason I could see for not buying this boat would be a fear of high speeds!!

2001 225 optimax. It has had both powerpacks replaced and then the stator went. Now I am having oil warning (intermitent beeps) problems. I cant be sure the oil injectors are working properly so I am thinking of disconecting and premixing. My boat has fairly low hours(about 150) I dont think i should have had these problems yet. Oh well, its going to be a while before I can buy a new one I will have to live with it for now!
