racedad Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Fairly new to the site, but long time angler and boater. I'm finally looking to fish as an organized angler, but would rather fish as a co-angler. I have a pond jumper now rigged, but not tournament worthy. I regret selling my big boats but such is life. Any recommendations on clubs in VA. Particularly in the Richmond region as I'm about 40 miles south. Quote
beas757 Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 They have the priority tournament series on the James river up your way Quote
thirtysixit Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 You can contact the tournament director for the River Ridge Bass Derby and see if he can link you up with a boater for our tournaments. Its a monthly tournament on Lake Gaston. I fish it every month I can. Super User Sam Posted October 15, 2016 Super User Posted October 15, 2016 Yes, there are bass clubs up towards the Tri-Cities and Richmond areas. I know Richmond Bassmasters accepts nonboaters. I also know that many, if not all, Tri-Cities bass clubs need you to pair up with another guy as they fish the "team concept." Richmond's dues are $110 and include state and national dues. There is a voluntary $6 annual big fish pot. You have to be a member of BASS. They will be voting to fishing 8 tournaments and skipping the hot months of July and August for 2017. Nice guys with nice boats and you will learn a lot about the waters of central Virginia. if you want to go east towards Tidewater there are a bunch of clubs in that direction but I have no idea if they are accepting nonboaters. For more information on the Richmond club you can PM me. Or go to the drop downs at the top of the Forum page for Links and check out Virginia bass club federations. That will give you an idea of the clubs in the Tri-Cities, Richmond and Tidewater areas. Quote
