BPS Crankin' Stick vs Powell Diesel Crankbait rod

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a new rod for mainly squarebills, topwater, and occasionally other small to medium size reaction baits. I'm looking mostly at cheaper stuff and these two seem to be the front runners. I owned the previous generation of diesel crank rod and I loved it until it broke, my fault. So I got another one and it broke, my fault again. But now I'm trying to decide between the new diesel and the bps crankin stick 7' med. Any one have experience with either of these rods?

I have a 6'6" medium light and 7' medium heavy crankin sticks and they are good for everything you listed

So you have had 2 of the diesel crank and were obviously happy or you wouldn't have bought the 2nd one. Why change and risk not liking the bps crankin stick? Unless there were above steller reviews and feedback on the BPS I don't think I would risk being unhappy vs a safe play on the rod you know you liked.

Considering your like many (me included) on a budget makes me even think more so not to risk changing something that I know worked.

Try something new, you don't always have to stick to a certain brand, Powell being the case here, if you like the reviews of the bps ,the specs try it? You can always return it.

I have both old and new versions of the crankin stick and love them. I have always had good experiences with the BPS brand rods. I have used the crank stick line and the carbonlite line. If you see my other posts the carbonlite is my favorite rod. It's hard to beat for the price. The crankin stick is the same way for me
