Restoring finish to older Crawdad boat

Featured Replies

My stepdad just gave me his old Crawdad boat, purchased in 1983. The boat  is in great shape other than the finish (plastic) has faded somewhat. I want to fix it up for my 17 yr old. Do any of you know of a product that will restore and maintain the finish? Thanks in advance.

Hey there, I'm fairly new to bass fishing and know nothing about the boat you mentioned but through other hobbies I know there are paints available now that are designed to stick to plastic. I think rustoleum and krylon both make them. I have seen good success on other forms of plastic and it should work on yours. if you decide to go this route, make sure you clean the plastic really good with a good oil/wax stripper, then prime and paint.

you can also check with your local automotive paint supplier and look at the "bumper primer" it's made just for flexable plastics. It's kind of pricey but worth it in the long run.
