what would be a good deal??

Featured Replies

Hey Guys, I've got a neighbor that has a 2 year old bass rig that has never been in the water, it's a 14' Carolina skiff with a mercury 9.9 sitting on a galvanized trailer. he has had it two years and never used it, He runs the motor every few months in a drum of water but that's it. it has been stored since new under a car port.  I'm working on a deal with him but don't know what is a good deal for this setup. can anybody help me ???

does he have any electronics? TM? livewells? storage? more details will help get better and more accurate estimates.

Sorry about that, what I have listed is all there is. no electronics, no live well or trolling motor. just the boat motor and trailer, He did have a factory casting deck mounted to the bow of the boat but other than that, nothing else.

thanks,

well the motor itself is worth atleast $2000. i probably wouldn't give up more than $4000 for it. i just got a new 15 hsp yamaha and put 9.9 stickers on it so i can still run it at the smaller lakes. good luck on the deal making. and remember, if you get the boat, there's always something to work on once you start putting it in the water alot. and i mean always something to work on whether it be the boat, or the trailor.

Well, thanks for the advice. I just finished talking with the guy and here is the deal.

brand new 14' carolina skiff w/casting deck installed

brand new mercury 9.9 w/ 15 carb kit installed

brand new galvanized trailer

2 clamp on Min-Kota trolling motors

about 6 various rods and reels (don't know brands)

home made aerated live well cooler.

3 oars

all for $2000.00

I think I made out pretty well, don't you ???

Yeah, this is my first freshwater boat. I have had a few larger salt water boats but never one this small. I'm hoping to have lots of good times with it.

thanks all.
